When managers believed they were nearly done with the well, they resolute to displace the mud with seawater; the gas was then able to overcome the weight of the fluid column and rose to the top.
the blowout preventer was hurt in a previously unreported accident in late March, and BP overruled the drilling operator on key operations
it was not fitted with remote-control or acoustically-activated triggers for use in case of an emergency requiring a platform to be evacuated. It did have a dead man’s thrash designed to automatically cut the pipe and seal the well if communication from the platform is lost, but it was unknown whether the thrash was activated.

Some of the survivors appeared on Anderson Cooper’s CNN how last night. One described a loud hissing sound and smelled gas, causing him to run just before the explosion.

No one knows the cause of the oil spill emanating of the well owned by British Petroleum, as well as the cause of the explosion which ruined the Trans-ocean Deep water Horizon appears to have been a faulty hydraulic line among other problems, including a failed cement job and using seawater to displace instead of heavier drilling mud’s who done what really, but it seems to be a failure of the BOP or blow out prevent-er device.
