Yes it is. But you must read and follow the directions sensibly.
You must exercise, and not just take it for fun. Creatine and exercise will build muscle, not stout.

Neither will directly boost weight or muscle mass. The only thing that does that is muscle use to the point of hurt – your body then rebuilds with a bit more muscle than you had before.
Creatine is used by advanced weightlifters and bodybuilders because they face problems with simply being able to cause enough muscle hurt before they’re too fatigued to keep working out. Making defers that fatigue letting you keep exercising a bit longer. It does nothing at all in terms of making any given workout count for more, or speeding recovery, it’s purely an endurance measure, and only helpful if you’ve been doing weights for a while. You said you’re a beginner so you don’t need this.
Whey and other protein gives your body the building blocks it needs to build more muscle after a workout. Advanced bodybuilders like whey because it’s "pure" protein (ie. no stout or carbs), so they can eat a lot of it without taking in calories from stout or carbs. Again this is something you only need if you’re doing some pretty serious weightlifting. For you as a new starter, you’ll be fine just eating healthily.
Slightly off topic, but it’s value adding that the #1 mistake made by new gym-goers is overtraining and not leaving enough recovery time. It’s well value asking for advice the first few times because our instinct is to hit the weights hard, and do it every day – don’t. Start out with what seem like stupidly wimpy weights, and give yourself a day between weights. Trust me, you’ll get better results and quicker than if you work out so hard you’re sore for 5 days…

dude take the whey protein, but not the creatine
creatine adds to your mass because it makes your body cells absorb more water, so you’ll weigh more
your muscles will (expand, so they get larger) but they don’t yet know if there are any effects of taking creatine, since it makes your cells abosrb water, what if your organs absorb water, no tests have yet proven that it won’t screw up your body.
i may be incorrect, but i would stay on the safe side. creatine is after all a compound, protein is a nutrient
